I was amazed  by the determination and talent  of Victorian Students at Hisense  arena  on Saturday. Two  of  our students,  Joseph Stewart and Rahni Wightman performed at this  world class event  in front of a sell out  crowd.

It is a lot of work to   get to the  performances. Months  of  rehearsals and  auditions and dedication  by  our students was  on show. They were amazing  and as a way  of congratulating them we will feature  the songs that made up the setlist  of  the event.

Each  year a great deal of work goes into  programming the theme  of the show. These songs are  from diverse  places  but  are all exciting  in their own  way. I Think the rendition  of the Living Years  performed  by Joseph is better than the  original. Go to the college  Facebook  page and sample the  performance.

Maybe in these conflicts between humility and fame-seeking, all-American wholesomeness and transgressive seduction, playacting lawlessness and moralizing law and order, his legions of fans saw their own split selves. His hip-shaking confidence seemed particularly suited to both inflaming and soothing anxieties and safely channeling pent-up passions. Certain inconsistencies in his persona did not seem to trouble him overmuch.
